Acne is a common disease on the skin, usually the face, that is seen in the teenage years but can carry over into adulthood. Even infants can experience acne on their delicate skin. Acne symptoms are classified as either blackheads, pimples, scars, cysts, and lumps. There is definitely a loss of self esteem for the sufferer who has a more severe case. In the very young, the pressure can cause depression and negative views about themselves. One of the best acne treatment options is the use of aromatherapy on the skin. For centuries, these natural plant oils have been capable of healing and correcting many ailments and diseases. It is best known for what it can do for the skin. Today, aromatherapy is found in many over the counter products including the shampoos, bath oils, creams, lotions, and can be found in raw for also. Not all aromatherapy oils can be used for an acne cure. Not all aromatherapy is natural as some products say they are but are not. The oils are not something to be using without making yourself knowledgeable about the safety hazards associated with them. Many times, the misconception about the oils is that since they are all natural, they can not hurt you. Some of the oils can cause sever damage and even death if not used correctly. The oils also need to be mixed with another oil such as olive oil to dilute it for a product to get rid of acne. The general rule of thumb is one ounce of olive oil or almond oil to 5-10 drops of the oil and no more unless recommended by a professional aromatherapist.

The oils that work best for an acne treatment are lavender oil, Tea Tree oil, Ylang Ylang, and Helichrysum. The best mix of these oils is found when combined in a carrier oil called Jojoba. It is wonderful for the skin and is beneficial whether there is a problem on the skin or not. It is not a greasy oil so it does not cause the skin and pores to be blocked. It also exfoliates the dead skin cells away. A cotton ball soaked in the mixture and applied right to the acne breakout area will do the trick. These oils have properties allowing them to halt the growth pattern of the bacteria and microbials on the skin. They also are antiseptic and clean the pores. The scarring is also reduced and skin is left feeling smooth and clear. Lavender oil is very soothing to stressful nerves and can relax the individual. Stress is also a cause of acne flair ups and should be avoided as much as possible.
